We develop Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks that drive insights and learning for practitioners, policymakers, and funders.
There is no one ‘right way’ to conduct monitoring and evaluation (or "M&E)", and suitable approaches will vary from organisation to organisation. We help our partners define what to measure, how to measure it, and how to report it over time. The global literature and CEI's own benchmarking underscore that M&E should support learning, accountability, and communication.
In our strategic work on M&E approaches and frameworks, we start from first principles: what do our partners want to achieve, and why? What individuals and communities are they hoping to impact? What outcomes will help them know they've reached their goals? This early work often takes the form of mission/vision statements and Theory of Change development, which is important to support alignment across organisations and teams.
We then help partners to establish M&E approaches that enable them to understand delivery and outcomes in order to inform their ongoing work and improve results. We work with both individual programs and at the departmental or portfolio level to establish frameworks and methodological approaches, identifying outcome indicators and tools (such as validated scales) that can be leveraged across diverse portfolios.
